Iconic film: Gilda (1946)

If there is a film that converted its star in an erotic myth, that’s Gilda. Directed by Charles Vidor in 1946 and starred by Rita Hayworth (Gilda) and Glenn Ford (Johnny Farrell) it tells the story of a stormy love triangle.

At that time, the film was outrageous not only for what Gilda represented (an extremely sensual, attractive an libertine woman) but also for the glove striptease that finished with the most famous slap in the film history.

The French born Jean Louis was the designer of the unforgettable gowns Rita wore, some of which have became timeless fashion icons (like the black satin strapless dress she wears when she sings Put the blame on Mame during the  striptease scene).

A classic to see time and again… Enjoy it during the weekend ladies!

Sensuality was her...

Wasn't she perfect??

Grecian inspired look...

Another amazing "deshabillé"...

Don't you think the belt and the bracelet look incredibly actually?

  2. I've never taken a close look at Rita Hayworth but I think she may now be one of my top style icons from long ago! That belt and bracelet is amazing, the sequins gown she is wearing is perfection! I'd assume everything she is wearing was handmade at the time so that just ADDS to the impressive level of style! Cheers to you for showing these images to us!
